Many times I feel like signing the lyrics to Alabama's song "I'm In a Hurray (And Don't Know Why)." Which goes like this... "I'm in a hurry to get things done oh I rush and rush until life's no fun..." However, when signing this song, I like to change the last few words to "but life is still fun" because... it is. The Escorcia family seems to rush from one event to the next while still maintaining our sanity and while having fun (except that I'm often exhausted). :)
August 9th (after the kids Triathlon) we rushed out to dinner with our running friends to celebrate Rich's 40th.
The next morning some of us managed to still be able to wake up early after a fun night out, to race in the Pancake Stampede 5K on Sunday morning.
Fitting in one more Sunday night sleep over before school starts up.
That next Thursday we raced to back-to-school night after work where we also picked up some new Twain Spirit gear for our newest Twain Tiger in the house!!
After back-to-school night we had to quickly rush to make it to Ava's end-of-summer swim program but, on our way we had to pull over on the side of the road because Dylan's 1st wiggly tooth was coming out. The fun part was that Grampy and Sharona just happen to FT right when Dylan's tooth was coming out so that caught all the excitement.
We made it just in time to Ava's swim program even with the dramatic tooth delay.
Such a cute performance.
The next morning after back-to-school night and Ava's swim program it was time to rush out the door on Friday the 15th for Ava's first day of 4th grade. Such a pretty girl and looking so grown up!
Saturday it was time to run a few back-to-school errands, hit up the gym and then clean house to get ready for Aunt Cindy and my mom to arrive Sunday morning. We were so glad Cindy stopped at our house to visit us on her week long trip in CO and to go for a fun bike ride together.
Later that afternoon the girls went to the Botanical Gardens Chihuly glass exhibit.
After a nice dinner with Aunt Cindy and my Mom in Southglenn unfortunately, I to had leave early and rush to the airport to pick up Simon from his guys weekend away.
The guys had a great weekend in San Francisco filled with lots of eating out, running some great trail runs ever day after being up late seeing the city, and getting to hit up a Giants baseball game too.
Wednesday August 20th finally arrived for Dylan's first day of Kindergarten at Mark Twain and Ava's 4th day of 4th grade.
Dylan is so excited to be in school with his big sister! It's going to be a great year.
The next day, Thursday, I rushed home from a long day of work to get ready to head downtown for a gorgeous night of...
...taking Simon's cousin Alisa, out for dinner and seeing the sites of the city like Union Station. Alisa was in town for 2 weeks of training.
Friday after school Dylan, raced across the street for his buddies birthday party while Ava had soccer practice. The next morning, Saturday the 23rd, Simon and I were both up very early to time two different races while Ava was up early herself at a friends house for her soccer tournament and Dylan was at home with a sitter. After the race, I quickly fit in a little run myself and then headed home to pick up Dylan to then rush over to watch Ava's soccer tournament.
Dylan and I were able to catch games 2 and 3 of Ava's tournament. She played so very well and so strong too.
Ava is really enjoying having assistant coach Emily on the team again this season.
By game 3 it was becoming a long, hot day in the sun. Thus, I was so glad Dylan happily found a muddy mess and a stick to keep him occupied.
After game 3 we rushed in the car to the Streets of Southglenn to meet up for dinner with Simon's cousin Alisa again as well as her husband Jack (who flew in town for the next week) and Simon's other cousin Zachary, his wife Callie and their cute little Owen.
Sunday morning (the 24th) we took advantage of finally having a morning to sleep in and then getting some chores done before we left for downtown again to meet cousin Alisa and Jack for a baseball game at Coors Field.
It was a very hot game in the sun and therefore, ice cream was a must.
After another great afternoon with family we had to leave the game early and rush back home for...
...Ava's basketball tryouts. Tryouts on the 24th went great! Nice job Ava.
Thursday, the 28th, we went out for one more final night with Alisa and Jack before they had to head back home.
Simon picked out a great restaurant downtown, the Ale House Amato's, which had a beautiful view of downtown and...
...a cozy rooftop fire-pit table.
Next we took a little walk to hit up...
...the best ice cream in town at the Little Man Ice Cream shop. The line was so very long but, worth the delicious wait.
Yum Yum. So glad for a another great visit with Alisa and Jack.
