A Little More Low Key

Another great weekend, but a little more low key than last weekend which allowed us to get some things done around the house too.
There was plenty of jumpy castle fun for the kids while I ran a really tough cross country 5k race and Simon timed the race.
The morning was a perfect temperature for the kids to play outside during the race without Simon and I annoying them by slapping on layers of sunscreen. Here is Dylan having a blast on the jumpy castle before the power went out and the jumpy castle collapsed on the kids. It was scary, but all the kids got out safely because there were tons parents around to help, but the event traumatized Dylan...... and he never stepped foot back in the castle the rest of the day. He was also very concerned for Ava and kept a very close eye on her while she didn't hesitate to......jump right back into the jumpy castle fun......and so did her new friends. Then it was time to walk over to the kids race where......Ava took off like the kids-race-veteran that she is... ...and Dylan did his best to follow her. Dylan was excited to run in his very first kids race. He took off running fast up the hill, but quickly lost steam. Once I pointed out Dad's finish arch at the end of the race Dylan was ready to take off running again. Look how determined he is to run through his dad's finish arch. There were many fun kids post race events like face painting, rock painting and amusement park rides.Even Dylan road a roller coaster for the first time. He loved it! Dylan insisted on riding the roller coaster because Ava and her friend were going on it. He met the height requirement (no surprise there) so I asked the lady if she could she stop and let us get off if she heard Dylan screaming in freight and she said sure, so we went for it. Dylan held on tight, but didn't seem too scared. Once we got off, Dylan said he had fun, but he also didn't want to ride any other rides because I think he was a little shaken by the new experience.

After a busy day the kids came home and both took a four hour nap!!!

WOW! After a four-hour nap, what did bedtime look like? That race sure has a lot for the kids to do! That's awesome. :)
