February Flew By

The last part of January and a few weeks into February were spent making a pretty big decision in our family on whether we should move into a new house or remodel our current home. We looked at building a brand new home from ground zero in the new Littleton Village and even being able to pick out our own corner lot, to buying an older but, bigger and nicer home in a near by neighborhood so the kids could stay in the same schools. 

We toured the new model homes in Littleton Village to build as well as walked through houses for sale in the area but, as a family we were still having a hard time landing on the best option for us. We all loved the new home build in Littleton Village (I could have had my dream home) but, our yard would have been so very tiny (no trampoline space) and no driveway to play in either. That gave me nightmares to think about not having a big yard like we have now. The old but bigger, nicer homes were beautiful too but, still the same age as our current home and had just as many foundation/soil/concrete issues as our current home and some also needed up keep too.  

Thus, after many discussions we decided we would remodel our current home. We absolutely love our neighbors and neighborhood and the kids really didn't want to move anyway. February then became a month of figuring out how much to spend and what we were going to remodel with our budget. Then it turned into a month of hours spent coming up with a time line, meeting with contractors and concrete company's and designers picking out a new kitchen and master bathroom and flooring. During the undertaking of this big new project, we also had to continue our normal day-to-day activities, sports, homework, parties and routines.

Tuesday, the 2nd we kicked off the month of February with a snow day and had some fun sledding with friends at Clarkson Park.

It was a cold, but fun day. 

After hours of sledding it was time to warm up inside playing a Ticket-to-Ride with the family.

The 2nd of February brought some great snow so after basketball on Saturday the kids and I headed up to the mountains on Sunday the 7th for an amazing day of skiing. 

 It's always more fun skiing with Jen, Grampy and Sharona too. 

After a perfect day of skiing, the kids and I quickly packed up and left the mountains to try and beat the traffic so that we could make it back down to Denver for the Eike's Super Bowl party.

 It was the best Super Bowl party we had ever been too.

The 10th of February brought us some orange and blue Colorado skies to celebrate the Broncos win.

We loving living close to Arapahoe High School so that we can walk to their home basketball games like we did here on the evening of Feb. 23rd. 

Finishing off the month enjoying some friendly CrossFit competition between Simon and me as we both competed this year in the 2016 Intramural CrossFit games. It was a fun experience for the both of us. 

This year Ava decided to squeeze in a season of Thunder volleyball in between all her CBC basketball practices and games.

 February started off with heavy snow but, ended with some gorgeous, sunny, warm weather. 

It was even warm enough for jumping on the trampoline with sprinklers and...

...going for long bike rides, followed by some tree climbing on the High Line Canal. 

February flew by with fun activities. Towards the end of February Ava started on the Thunder volleyball league. It was a juggle with still doing CBC basketball but, she was excited to give it a try.

 A majority of these pictures are from March but, March was such a busy month that it seemed easier to post them at the end of February and going into March.

 Great job picking up a new sport Ava.

Last but, not least... we had started on some of our new home upgrades and remodel projects starting with two of many more projects to come.

 One project was the installation of our new tankless hot water heater and the other project was...

...having the contractors fill in the pointless opening in our tall entry way with sheetrock, drywall and mud/texture. Let the projects, and mess, begin.
