Santa Fe - Last Trip Before School Starts

When we realized Simon had a weekend free from timing races we decided to head 

to Santa Fe, NM on August 16th for a long weekend before school started back up on Monday. 

 But before heading out of town we first needed to attend Ava's back to school night at Twain and then we rushed to Willows for Ava's really cute swim performance as her summer came to an end at Willows Olde Mill.

Ava marched out with her Army squad for their military themed program and then...

 ...put on a very cute synchronized routine and...

...finished with a  great splash.

We came home, packed up the car and headed out early the next morning for a 6 hour drive to the Hilton Santa Fe Golf Resort & Spa at Buffalo Thunder.

After checking in we were quickly out at the pool for some swim time and...

 ...relaxation and...

...finally some reading time too!

For the first night we hit up the art district for some grub at the Santa Fe Railyard Brewery.

The railroad tracks were fun for the kids to explore while waiting for dinner.

So cute.

 We woke to a beautiful morning for a great walk around the resort where...

 ...the kids found lots of fun sights to explore.

Up next we headed to Plaza for an afternoon at the Indian Market.

 The kids enjoyed the different culture and getting to pick out some great souvenirs to remind them of Santa Fe.

We also found a cute place with a great patio for lunch and then headed back to the resort for...

 ...lots more swim and...

 ...play time.

 Dylan was really into practicing his swimming and

jumping skills while Ava...

...made sure to get mom in the pool for some play time too!

Another perfect night out in the Plaza for BBQ and music.

Tuckered out after a very full day of fun.

 We hit up the pool one more time after sleeping in and eating a huge buffet breakfast. The kids were really into having mom take pictures of them...

 ...saying hello underwater.

 Enjoying time with my kiddos.

 We had such a great time away as a family and getting to...

...end the summer break with a wonderful mini-vacation.

We were back home and up early Monday morning for Ava's first day of 3rd grade. She's already loving her teacher and so happy to see all her buddies again.
Up next... Dylan's summer swim program is almost over and soon he'll be heading into preschool in green room at Willows Olde Mill (last year he was in orange room preschool) and he's so very excited to be switching rooms!
