Wow! Check out the 12 inches of snow we got Saturday March 30th right before we left for our spring break trip to Iowa.
The kids made the most of some snow playing time and...
...burning off some energy while Mom was busy packing away for our big trip.

Yay! The drive wasn't too bad even with some snow on the roads. We made it to Princeton, IA to see my sister and family for our first stop in our journey to the mid-west.
The pool was a must after being in the car for 15 hours and...
...it was also a perfect place for these cousins to play give the cold temperatures outside.

...his wife and two daughters. Thanks Isabella and Sarah for showing Dylan and Ava this cool park and all your pets too.
Up next we headed to Illinois again with Omi to visit the town of Nauvoo. Such a beautiful town on the river.
After seeing the sites and history of Nauvoo Simon, was excited to take us all out for a wonderful dinner at the famous Hotel Nauvoo for some yummy fried catfish.
Time to head back to Iowa for...
...stories and...
...snuggle time with Omi while...
...Simon and I then met up with our friends James and April from Luther College for a night out on the town.
Next, we headed to Jacksonville, IL to visit Simon's Grandma Margaret, uncle Terri and other relatives in Jacksonville too. Grandma Margaret is doing so well and has a lovely home. It was great for Simon and I too visit with her and we're so very thankful the kids were able to spend the day with her too. Thanks Terri for taking us all out for lunch!
Aunt Cheryl was able to visit at Grandma Margaret's too. Thanks so much Cheryl for coming by to see us.
Time to spend the day in Burlington, IA to show the kids all of Simon's favorite sites like the famous Snake Alley.

...finally take the kids to...
...the crookedest street in the world.

...well he's pretty cute too but, definitely more into playing then taking pictures.
Up next we tried our best to find some eagles for Ava down by the river and...
...although we finally spotted a few they were too far away to take any good pictures even with my long lens. Bummer but, still pretty neat to watch.
Last but, not least after we finally were able to take a pretty good group picture on the river (eye's were all opened and everyone's looking at the camera) we then headed to another yummy lunch at Big Muddy's on the river. Thank you Cathie, for always making your home so welcoming and cozy for all of us. Our visit was short be we enjoyed every minute of it.
Friday night we headed to the Thompson house in Iowa City and the kids quickly became...
...good buds.
Late night crapes for dessert. Yum yum!
Saturday the boys from Luther got pumped up for their 800 track meet and sported...
...some fun get-ups. Yep, Simon actually raced in a yellow Pollo shirt while Mark and Nate wore some old W'burg jerseys.
The kids were ready for some hot tub time after the cold and rainy track meet.
Thanks Lucy and Truman for letting Ava and Dylan dye Easter eggs with you. Another short but, fun packed visit with the Thompson family. Sunday morning we woke up very early for the big trek back home to CO. Ava and Dylan woke up to Easter baskets in their car seats and hidden Easter eggs in the car which they got such a kick out of. We loved seeing so much family and a few friends on our wonderful visit to Iowa and Illinois. I can't believe it has already come and gone so fast.

I love that the Easter Bunny found you guys in the car!! So fun. What a great trip! can't wait until our kids are big enough for a 14 hour trek and then we're coming to Colorado!
