The 1st of February was a big day for Ava because she went in for her first minor surgery to get a baby tooth pulled, then they attached a chain from her braces to her impacted adult tooth that was growing in at an angle to start the process of pulling her tooth down in the right direction.

Laughing gas time but, unfortunately Ava didn't laugh much nor did she make me laugh either. Ava's friend Reegan really wanted me to record Ava in hopes that she would say something funny however...
...the Nitrous hit Ava hard and she actually started to panic for a short moment so I had to stop recording to help Ava out. Once the nurse reduced her dose of Nitrous she was able to relax and then of course Ava said to say something funny about feeling like one of the characters on Monsters University but, I didn't have my phone recording then. Drat.
Ava's surgery went well and she was a real trooper.
She was out like a light in the car on the ride home.
I was prepared for several days for Ava to want to eat cold, soft foods but, Ava being the tough kid that she is, went back to school the next day, was eating pretty normal foods, and feeling WAY better than expected. She was one tough kid.
We were nearing the end of the basketball season with another game for Dylan on Friday, February the 3rd.

Dylan had really been playing well towards the end of the season and seemed to feel more confident in the game, playing great defense (like always), getting lots of rebounds, and getting some great steals and make more shots. Awesome playing Dylan. So fun to watch.

That same day a whole box of wine was delivered to us for a trade Simon worked out with FitVine Wine for advertising on his website. Delicious!
Saturday, the 4th we were out at Gold Crown to watch Ava play two basketball games but, apparently this was the only picture I took of our 6th graders battling 7th graders.
Sunday the family woke up for the Super Bowl 5K at the Breckenridge Farmhouse Brewery. Simon timed the race while the kids and I ran in the race and we were also able to gather some of the Coyote gang to run in the 5K too.
A fun, sunny day with friends, running, gathering and having a few beers (and root beer) on the brewery patio after the race.

That next Thursday night, the 9th, we were back at it with more basketball. The kids had just as much basketball last year but, I neglected to take nearly as many pictures. I think last year with the remodel, I was so excited to get out of the house that when I got to the games I just zoned out and didn't take nearly as many pictures as usual.
Ava had another great game.
The girls however, had to play up in the 7th grade division (again which makes me so made that CBC kept making our 6th grade Elite girls play in the 7th grade Elite division... not even 7th Select) so the girls got beat pretty bad. You can tell from the bench, however, that they still worked hard and wore themselves out.
Earlier that day, Dylan was home from school sick on that Thursday the 9th. I hate seeing my kiddos sick. Poor little guy.
Friday the 10th, Simon was excited to take Ava to try out some youth crossfit at Back Country CrossFit. Simon was impressed with how big the space was (compared to where he and I used to go to CrossFit) and Ava loved trying her new class out. Such a fun, new change for her.
By Friday night the 10th, Dylan wasn't feeling 100% yet but, he was feeling good enough to play in his last game of the season. He played very well too.
It was a really fun season to watch Dylan play and grow this year. Even though he didn't make all the practices because of conflicts with wrestling practices, he still improved lots. Which, probably has more to do with all the time Dad put in with one-on-one coaching. Thanks Simon.

Finally... a weekend free of basketball so that meant it was time for the kids and I to head up to the mountains on Friday, stay the night, and ski the next day on the 12th with my parents.
It was an awesome day and we even had some great powder that day too.
What was even more fun was that Jen had the day off from teaching ski school so she was able to ski with us that afternoon.
The clouds were beautifully low that day.
Back home to an old girl resting again on a warm, sunny day on Wednesday the 15th.
Sunday, February the 19th, was a full day of basketball for Ava (and the whole family) way up north in Windsor. Ava played three games from morning until late afternoon.
The girls played awesome (against their own 6th grade level again).
Ava played well with lots of great takes.

Dylan brought lots of toys to stay entertained during a long day of his sisters' bball games.
Kelan and Dylan were glad they had each other to keep on another busy.

Then we were back to more basketball time.

The next day was Presidents day, Monday the 20th, and so with the kids (and Maddie) having the day off of school, Simon decided to take them to see the new Batman Lego movie. They loved it!
Ending the month with more basketball but, now it was time for the kids to watch a game instead of playing in one. On the 22nd we walked over to Arapahoe High School to cheer on the Warriors. Simon has taken the kids each to a couple different games this year and this time I was able to join them for a game as well.
