May 3rd, Grampy and Sharona came down for the weekend and we headed down to the Big Dry Creek for and afternoon of playing in the creek. The kids were on a mission to make a channel in the sand to redirect the water.
The next morning we woke up early and headed to Golden for the Fairmont 5000 where I ran and placed 2nd for the women on a hilly course.
Thanks mom and dad for coming down to watch the race.
After the 5k the kids lined and for their 1k race in the hot sun.
Ava ran a smart race, out passing all the girls and almost all the boys, finishing first for the girls and 4th overall.
Dylan ran close behind running such an awesome race. He kept a great pace and passed so many older kids and even...
...passed this adult in the last home stretch.
Later Dylan won the 50 meter dash in his age group race which was so fun to watch because Dylan really has some speed when it comes to sprinting.
We finished up the weekend with a girl scout event at the WholeHearts center where the girls painted hearts on canvas to complete their last steps towards earning their painting badge.
Saturday May 10th we were up bright and early for Ava to run the High Line Canal 5K.
Dylan loves to run all the kids races he can but, we're not ready yet for him to run a 5k race so he enjoyed cheering on his sister and playing in the sun with all the fun toys they had out for the kids.
Ava and her best friend Ava ran awesome. Our Ava ran a 2 minute 25 sec PR from the last time she ran this same course in October and placed 10 overall out of all the women in the race (women not just kids) and ran a 25:14. Ava L. ran an extremely impressive 24:09. Great job ladies.
Post-race pancake breakfast in the park along with a little..
...Pogo jumping too.
After the race it was time for Dylan's last soccer game of the spring season.
A little belly rub never hurts for a warm up before the game.
That morning Dylan told me for Mother's Day he was going to score two goals for me and... he did! Thanks buddy. Dylan played a fantastic last game of his soccer season.
A fun team this season with a great coach.
Ava too had her last season game on Saturday but, was later followed up the next weekend with a soccer tournament to officially end the season.
A little later after all soccer games were over, it was time for some ball playing on the trampoline in...
...the warm sunshine before the cold weather blew in the night and brought...
...snow the next morning... on Mother's Day. Yuck.
What a change in weather from just 24 hours the day before.
The kids had a blast shoveling all the heavy wet snow that was weighing down the trampoline.
