Too Much Fun At Camp and Dylan's 5th Bday

What a big last two weekends we've had for the Escorcia's. Ava and I headed out on Friday September 20th for Ava's two night Girl Scout cabin camping trip in Woodland Park. While we were away at camp, Dylan was up in the mountains with Grampy and Sharona because Simon had 6 races to time that weekend plus, Grampy and Sharona wanted to celebrate Dylan's birthday with him too.

Girl Scout camp went amazingly well. The girls had a blast, learned a lot, worked hard, made news friends, and the weather was just perfect.

 With no bathrooms in our cabins this year it meant teeth brushing and face washing were done outside like real campers with freezing cold water.

 The girls loved staying up late... I mean really late. :)

 Such a cutie and I love that she never complained once. Ava just loves everything about camping and being in the woods.

 A long and gorgeous hike from our cabin to where we ate and participated in all the  daily activities with all the other girl scout campers.

The counselors planned such fun activities for the girls this year.

 Of course one of the activities was making traditional friendship bracelets.

 This year's camp theme was the Amazing Race and so all the fun activities encompassed that theme which the girls loved.

 Finally a little free time but soon...

 ...the girls were back to work.

 Here was our cabin. In the lower left corner you can see the stinky latrine (outhouse) which was of course the girls least favorite part of camp.

 Writing Thank You cards the the National Guard for all their hard work with helping Colorado during all our recent rain storms and flooding.

The girls also made such a special flag for the National Guard too. 

 Christy and I are so lucky to lead such a great group of girls!

 While Ava and I were away and Simon was busy at work, Dylan was off enjoying his time hiking in the mountains with Sharona, Grampy and of course...

 ...with Addy too. Dylan had a blast and had so much to talk about from exploring the river and the mountains, swinging on his swing, playing with his trains and also...

...getting to play miniature golf  in Vail with my second cousins' kids. 

 Sharona and Dylan worked on a great project of putting together an awesome Lego Jeep.

 And of course Dylan loved getting surprised with a happy birthday song and donuts for breakfast and he of course loved all his favorite gifts too.

 Finally, September 24th arrived it was time for Dylan's big day to turn 5! He of course wanted to bring donuts to school instead of cupcakes and then after a great day at school we headed out for dinner to Dylan's favorite restaurant and then it was back home for present time.

 I loved Dylan's expression when he was opening his musical card from Omi.

 Transformer time and then...

 ...some delicious mini-chocolate eruption cake from Whole Foods. Good thing we only had a mini-cake after all those donuts.

 Dylan was so excited to light yes own candle now that he was 5.

 After patiently waiting so long after his actual bday until the weekend arrived, it was finally time for Dylan's party with all his buddies and tons of rough playing and jumpy castle time at...

... Dylan's favorite place, Monkey Bizness.

 Good thing the playroom, with all those jumpy castle was large enough to fit a big crowd of friends who came to celebrate Dylan's birthday.

 Yep, one last round of donuts instead of cake. I guess it's safe to say this little guy is a big fan of donuts, so we made sure to get the best donuts around from none other than Lamar's Donuts. Yum Yum!
