Finishing up the rest of May with more soccer, 3 more races, a girl scout hike, a birthday, and 3 BBQs. What a great month!
Ava's end-of the-season soccer tournament was a blast. The girls played three games in a row and looked cute in their team shirts and red-worrier-face-paint.
After all three soccer games, the whole team plus all family members came over to the Escorcia house for an end-of-the-season soccer party/BBQ. It was a lot of people in one house but, a ton of fun too!
The next morning Simon and I woke up very early to run the Colfax half-Marathon. I ran a very slow 1:28 but, still placed 7th for the women. I wish I could say my slow performance was from all the heavy food and beer from the soccer party the night before but, it wasn't. Really, I just need to get in better shape. While Simon, on the other hand, ran a very, very fast 1:19 half marathon, placing 13th overall. Awesome race Simon!
Random cute picture of Dylan showing us his new super hero shirt.
For Ava's last Brownie Troop meeting of the season, we headed out to Deer Creek Canyon for a nice hike in the sun.
Water break and time for the girls to take more pictures with their disposable cameras. They had so many cute questions about why couldn't they see the pictures right away or how can they delete a picture or why do they have to wined up the camera to take a new picture. Too funny.
Beautiful day for a hike.
Go Brownies!!!
Dylan's daycare had an end-of-the-year outdoor family breakfast and Dylan was very excited that Simon, Ava and I were all able to come but, he still had the most fun with his two best buddies, Grant and Jackson.
So very happy my parents came down for the weekend to celebrate my 33rd birthday. We all went out for a wonderful dinner at the Yard House and later...
...we came home for my all-time favorite cake, Tres Leche. Yum yum!
The next morning Simon and I woke up and were out the door by 5:30 am to head to Boulder to join almost 50,000 runners in one of our favorite races, the Boulder Bolder. I finished 1st out of all 33 year olds and 47th out of 23,293 females, running a 40:08 10K while Simon, ran a 36:57 10K placing 5th out of all 35 year olds and 188th out of 20,207 males. Overall, we had such a fun morning together at such a great race.
After the BB race, we then raced home to shower up and get ready for friends to arrive at our house for a wonderful Memorial Day BBQ with lots of yummy food...
...great conversation...
...trampoline fun...
...catching up with friends and...
...even seeing friends from out of town! Thanks Thompson's and Bender's for trucking down our way to see us.
Our girl crew and all...
...their cute kiddos and...
... cute husbands too.
So excited Simon's running crew buddies all showed up as well and even closed the party down into the late hours of the night.
The water balloons and balloons in general were such a hit for the kids at the party. What a fun gathering and what a great kick start to a wonderful summer to come.
Finishing up the month of May with a gorgeous Friday evening race in City Park.
While the kids got to play in the park and make nests for their new toy birds, I was able to then race a 5K that Simon was timing in City Park, placing 1st overall female and winning another pair shoes. :)
The race ended in the Zoo which the kids then loved getting to see as many animals as they could before we headed out for dinner. What a great event.
