Riu Palace Peninsula

January 2, 2013, it was finally time to say "yes" to the kids when they asked "can we go to Mexico again?" They've been asking about Mexico since we left Cabo last year. We loved the Riu Palace on our honeymoon and we loved it even more in Cabo for our family vacation last January, so this year we headed to Cancun for another beautiful stay at the brand new Riu Palace Peninsula.
We arrived to a gorgeous lobby that was still decorated for the holidays and...
...our room was so modern, huge and perfect.
The kids loved that the bathroom was so open but, best of all was waking up to...
...this gorgeous view from our room on the 15th floor. It was amazing.
Kicking off the week with lots of pool time and of course...
...the kids were so excited to go to Riu Land (or kids club as we called it). They loved all the fun, organized games and getting to play with other kids.
Ava and Dad seeing how far out they could swim.
A common theme of the vacation was all the fruity drinks at any time, anywhere. One of the many joys of an all-inclusive hotel.

Dylan lovin' the ocean waves and...
...Ava just lovin' the ocean.
More strawberry daiquiris please!?!

Play time with Dad.
After a hard day of playing in the ocean there's nothing better than getting to watch cartoons (in Spanish) while soaking in the jet tub and eating beef jerky in a wine glass.
Nighttime walks on the beach and...
...settling our full bellies after 3 course meals.
The Riu Palace.
Riu Land night time dancing and...
...entertainment for the kids.
More sandy, beach time and...
... digging in the sand.
Can't get enough of these waves.

Relaxing...
...checking out the local wildlife and...
...taking in all the sunshine.

No tears cried over these refreshments that were later filled with salt water from the ocean waves... they can simply just order another.
Growing up fast.
Family time.
Exploring.
Even time-outs in Mexico aren't that bad.
Our favorite dinner nights were the delicious Steakhouse and the unbelievable Japanese sushi topped off with the best fried ice cream.

More nighttime walks on the beach.

And more night time entertainment on stage.

Drinks in the pool anyone? We definitely can't do this at our pools back home.
Cheers!
There were some moments when we just needed to dry out from pool.
Ava's new friend.
Another great night out.
A beautiful sail out to one of the longest coral reefs for a day of...
... snorkeling and...
...swimming with the fish.
Our guide caught a baby octopus that...
...changed colors when you touched him.
We just can't get enough of the crystal blue water.
 Back to the pool for...
...more family-time-fun.
Dad, Ava and Dylan on yet another adventurous swim.
No work or activities to get in the way of spending time together.

Ava finding heart-shaped-rocks for her Great Aunt Cindy.
Time flies when you're having fun.
Six days of family fun in the sun sure went by fast. We had such an awesome vacation! Is it January 2014 yet.
