Pumpkin Festival and Des Moines Marathon

The perfect Fall weather is a great time to rake leaves...
...jump in leaf piles...
...play ball with Marley and...
...race Grave Digger in the back yard.
Of course with the Fall season comes soccer season too so pizza parties and sleepovers before Saturday games are a must and...
...this Fall Ava and her friends' teeth sure seem to be falling out fast (this is Simon's official tooth-pulling-out stair).
Ava has lost 8 teeth total over the last two years but, she lost 3 of those 8 in one week.
Dylan recently filled in for a friend's soccer game and scored three goals and had a blast! Nice work buddy.
Ava's loving the Fall soccer season and I am too since the weather has been so nice for watching all the games.
After Ava's soccer game two weekends ago we headed to the Pumpkin Festival where the kids got to ride on fun rides...
...play in the corn maze and of course...
...pick out the perfect pumpkin. Great team work guys in getting that pumpkin off the vine.
 Nice pick Ava!
You're so strong D-man!
We all loved the hay ride the best!

After a great soccer and pumpkin festival weekend it was time to pack up and get ready to head to Des Moines to see family and run the marathon on Sunday.
We made sure to stay at the favorite Ramada Inn with a fun indoor water park.
Ava and Dylan had a splashing good time.
We were so thrilled Omi made the 3 hour drive to come visit us in Des Moines. We loved seeing her so much and also getting to see...
...some of Simon's side of the family too.
The kids were love'n Aunt Debbie's play set so they could...
...stretch their legs from a long car ride from CO.
Love you to the moon and back.
Sunday it was time to get out and race the Des Moines marathon in 3:00:32 placing 8th overall and 3rd in my age group. I loved seeing my family out there cheering me on at miles 9 and 15 and at the finish. You guys rocked and thanks again for all the support! While I was racing the marathon Simon ran a 5k race in 17 minutes flat placing 4th out of 1,120 runners. Sweet race Simon!
One last family gathering before heading back to CO. We had such a great weekend seeing family and running the marathon and 5k. The weather was perfect and we had such a great weekend overall.

Perfect fall post! Congrats, again, on the race, Kel! Simon, you rocked it, too. Looks like a great time was had by all for the weekend, even with the long drive. :)
