Orchard and Ava's First Triathlon

Last weekend we headed to Palisade so the kids could spend some qt time with Grampy and Sharona at the orchard while I timed a race for Simon in GJ.
No peaches yet but, we sure had no problem filling up on sweet, delicious cherries.
Taking a ride around the orchard.
Getting a lesson from Grampy on picking cherries.

Ava enjoyed climbing the trees to find all the cherries while Dylan really enjoyed eating tons of cherries.
Addy was always close by to hang with her pals.
A visit to the orchard wouldn't be complete without a ride on the tractor.
Such a fun weekend and such a hard working Ava while Dylan...
...enjoyed getting dirty and being covered in cherry juice.

After timing a race in Grand Junction and playing at the orchard we headed home to cheer Ava on in her first kids triathlon.
Simon was timing a triathlon that also held a kids triathlon so we asked Ava if she wanted to try it out and she said yes (not really knowing what she was getting herself into).
The race started with one lap in the pool which Ava did so very, very well in.
Then it was onto the transition area where Dad helped Ava get ready for the bike ride.
After a 1 mile bike ride she parked her bike and put on her shades before she took off...
 ...on a half mile run.
Ava finished the race strong and then...
...collapsed. She was exhausted and was also mad at mom and dad because the race was so hard. After lots of fluids and a big lunch by the time it was bed time Ava, was saying she had had a little fun in the race that day! Now 5 days later Ava said she's ready to try another one on Saturday! Thanks Dylan for cheering Ava on and making sure she was ok at the end of her race.
