Event Packed Weekend

For a weekend full of out door Halloween activities we sure lucked out with an amazing weather weekend. It was great not having to pack warm coats, hats and gloves.

Event #1
Scream Scram: Friday night Scream Scram 5k with a kids fun run in costumes. Can you find Ava? She's in there somewhere. When we left the house Dylan was so excited to race. When we arrived at the start and he saw all the adults in costumes that were covering their faces he pretty much freaked out and instead just watched Ava run in the kids race without him.Great job to Ava and also to Dad who ran an awesome 5k race.Event #2 Kids Club Then Swim Lessons: Saturday morning Ava and Dylan went to Kids Club at the gym so that mom could workout and then we headed to the kids swim lessons. After lessons we made sure to relax in the hot tube before our busy morning with more fun to follow.
Event #3 Halloween Picnic in the Park: The kids dressed in costumes after the pool and we headed up north to meet friends for a picnic lunch in the park with costumes and pumpkins. Such a fun idea Jess!
Event #4 Hoofin' It Through The Hollows: After naps from a busy, active day Ava's friend arrived for a sleepover and we later headed out to another Halloween 5k race with a kids fun run dash.
The kids dashed over and over again to run through the fun Halloween finish. Dylan excitedly ran in this kids race because there were no adults in big, scary costumes; just kids in fun costumes.

Roasting marshmallows.
Congrats to Simon for winning the 5k race! The kids were so excited for him and wildly cheered him on through the finish.

Event #5 Late Night: Simon, Seth and I stayed up until 2 am preparing for a big Stride 5k race that raises money for our kid's school district.

Event #6 The Stride 5k: Woke up early (after going to bed at 2 am) and got the kids ready to go run in the kids fun run at the Stride 5k race.
This was the longest (1 mile) of the three races that the kids ran in this weekend.
Ava and Ava took off running very fast and ran so well that they'll for sure have to run in the full 5k next year and not just the mile race.
I was most impressed with Dylan's performance not just because he ran the full mile, but because he was so determined to run the mile so well and so fast. If I tried to speed up to take a picture of him he then tried to sprint with me. It was so fun to watch how determined he was.

Event #7 Sunshine Fun: Playing in the warm sunshine and jumping on the tramp.

The day was so gorgeous that the girls later had an outfit change into their swimsuites because they said they were "soooooo hot."

Event #8 Naps: Nap time for the family was a must after an extremely packed, but super fun weekend and after Simon timed six races in three days. Only two more weeks of Simon's very busy work season. Mexico in January can't come soon enough. We need a break.

Wow--so busy with races! And so fun! You deserve a break, I'm tired just reading about it! :) The kids are cute in their costumes...and I can't believe Dylan did a full mile--wowzer! Awesome!
