Aggressively Snowy April

The 1st day of April delivered a very wet, messy, cold snowstorm and both Simon and I, unfortunatley, had to time races that morning in the horrible weather. I was down south in Pueblo and Simon was in Denver at Sloan's Lake, and we were both wishing it was a big April fools joke, but it wasn't. We both braved the elements and got the job done.

Later that night it seemed like the perfect, snowy night for cooking up some homemade popcorn in Simon's new toy... the perfect popcorn popper. It's the best tasting popcorn ever.
Sunday, the 2nd, the weather was slightly better and we were excited to hang with friends at the Blue Spruce Brewery. The four kids got a little goofy with their imaginary camera they built.

By April 4th the weather was still grouse outside so Dylan hit up the kids CrossFit class to release some of his energy since he didn't have lacrosse practice that night and later that evening it was definitely a perfect, cool night for soaking in the hot tub.
Finally... the weather was looking great on Thursday the 6th. Just in time for our Coyotes practices to start back up again for our Spring/Summer running program. Simon, Megan and I were looking forward to coaching another great season. The kids had to double up on practices with cross country and soccer/lacrosse, for a few weeks but, they both did well and we enjoyed keeping them busy.
The next day, on April 7th, I met Grampy in Georgetown while the kids were in school so that I could pick Addy up from him. The kids were so excited that Grampy was letting us watch her for the week while my parents were out of town. Addy was in good hands and the kids made sure to take great care of her.

Saturday the 8th, Ava and I headed out east for her chilly soccer game while Simon headed to Dylan's lacrosse game (unfortunately, game times overlapped that morning). Ava played awesome as goalie that morning and Simon said Dylan played well and seemed to be catching on more and more with the game of lacrosse, so that was great to hear.

Sunday, the 9th, was a gorgeous day for both family and friend time, at the Platte Half Marathon. Simon and I both ran in the race while Ava ran in the half marathon relay race with Ava L and Addy. Ava and Ava both ran 5 miles each while Addy ran the last 3.1 miles. They did awesome and Ava ran much faster then she did just one year ago at this race. It was a fun day all around and great post race celebration with friends.

Random picture of Dylan's cute "Where The Wild Things Are" artwork that he brought home from school on the 10th.
Pictures for Grampy that even in our busy schedules the kids were still giving Addy plenty of attention while he and Sharona were away.

There were a few nights in April when soccer and cross country overlapped so it was nice for Ava to have the option to hit up track practice with Simon on weeks when she missed cross country practice like she did here on April 12th. Working hard on the track.
Simon was working hard too, in the gym, on the 14th.

Another busy week completed of school, practices and returning Addy back home to Grampy and Sharona, so we were excited for Saturday the 15th to arrive for a beautiful day of watching Dylan kick some butt as goalie in lacrosse. Nice work D! He also did a fantastic job on offense with a lot of hustle, grounding the ball a lot (I'm learning the new terms) and running it down the field. He has also almost scored a goal. He has been so close to scoring and has been doing great for his first year in lacrosse (his 2nd year if you count last years skills clinic).

After a great game, the kids jumped at the chance to finally dye their Easter eggs. They worked hard this year on a new tie-dye technique.

The next morning, on Easter Sunday the 16th, they woke to their traditional 140 Easter eggs that they had to find throughout the house, which I had hidden the night before. Never to old to hunt for Easter eggs.

Later that afternoon, Ava and Dylan still had a few more eggs to dye the old-fashioned way and Dylan received a surprise visit from his buddy Emerson who had moved away so Dylan hand't seen him in a while and enjoyed catching up.

A gap in the time frame of pictures was due to Simon and I being gone in Mexico with friends from the 20th - 24th. Pictures from our trip are in the post to follow. When we returned the kids enjoyed a warm enough April day for a neighborhood water fight on April 27th after school. We love our neighbors (our friends).

After the kids came inside, soaked from their game of fun, Dylan quickly dried off and headed to a spectacular night of practice while Ava went to soccer practice. After both kids were done with practice we then had to rush to Dylan's school for his Night-of-the-Arts.

Dylan took Ava and I around the school to show us all his cool pieces of artwork.

The month of April continued to be a very snowy, wet month and the night of the 28th there was word that a love of snow would be falling the next day so the kids games were both cancelled for Saturday the 29th. What wasn't cancelled, thank goodness, was the wedding of our dear friends Eric and Renee Kosters at the Red Rocks Chapel. The snow actually just made for a very beautiful, Colorado-like wedding.

With the kids games having been cancelled from all the now, we were very thankful that they were able to play at Jungle Quest for a friends birthday, while Simon and I were at the wedding.

The best time to hit up the hot tub is in the snow so we all of course went hot tubbing that night after the wedding while the snow kept falling.
It was a snowy, but wonderful month of April!
