Simon, Cathie and I kicked off the 1st day of September with an amazing concert at Folsom Field to see the Dixie Chicks in concert!
It was a very fun night and the Dixie Chicks put on a great show.
The next day, Friday the 2nd, Simon and I headed up to Wash Park to time a middle school cross country race. Cathie was kind enough to bring the kids up to the race after school so that Ava could run in the middle school race.
Ava ran against a couple hundred middle school girls and placed...
...7th for the girls.
Great job Ava! It was fun for Simon and I to time the race while Ava ran in the race.
We were nearing the end of our home remodel projects and one of those last few projects included Cathie's bathroom in the basement. Within the very first week of September, Cathie had the bath tub ripped out and replaced with a custom built shower with a bench and glass door.
As well as new floor tile and the entire bathroom was painted a lighter color.
Looks great and I know Cathie loves her new, walk-in shower too.
September 4th Hanky got a pet cupcake from the pet store. Dylan was so excited to take a picture of Hank eating it. Dinger got one too but, Ava really didn't care to much about taking a picture of him with his cupcake.
September 9th was a Friday, so after school we picked the kids up, including Ava Landeis, and headed up north for the huge Slavens Middle School Invite.
There were 200 hundred 6th grade girls in the race and out of those 200 6th graders Ava placed...
3rd overall. So amazing!!
What was even more fun was that her friend Ava Landeis placed 1st and Addy placed 2nd. It was a one, two, three sweep for the Colorado Coyotes.
Such a fun event and great race for the girls.
Tuesday, September 13th, quickly rolled around and we were thrilled to have our first Colorado Coyotes practice at Clement Park with 38 kids on the roster. Wow! We were going to be excited if we had 20 kids on the team, so we were ecstatic to get 38 to join. We could tell it was going to be a great season! Through out the season, Tuesday practices were always held at Clement Park.
On Wednesday the 14th I dropped off Ava at basketball practice (Ava was a busy girl with two nights of basketball practice and two nights of cross country practice each week plus homework). After dropping Ava, I headed to Whole Foods to multi-task and get grocery shopping done. When I saw that the Nature's Educators had a display out front, I had to run home and grab my snake-loving-son, Dylan and bring him back to Whole Foods. He was thrilled to see and touch a python snake.
Dylan also wanted me to take a picture of him next to this cute owl to show sister because he knew how much Ava loved little owls.
Thursday, the 15th was our 2nd Colorado Coyote practice but, Thursdays' practices were always held at Powell Middle School instead of Clement Park (where Tuesday's practices were). For this particular practice, being that it was the start of the season, we had the kids run a timed 1600 meters around the track so that later in the season we had something to measure and track their progress with. I loved this picture because both Kate Sorrel and Dylan went and cheered Liam on, all on their own, to help him finish his fourth lap.
I can't remember why but, for some reason Simon and I had the chance to run together, just the two of us, on the 17th. This doesn't happen often enough.
All Sunday practices for Colorado Coyotes, were held at Heritage High School on weekends when we didn't have meets. September 18th's practice was extremely hot but, the kids still worked hard with lots of water breaks.

The next week was full of cross country and basketball practices as well as getting ready for Dylan's birthday the next week.
Saturday, September 24th Dylan was overwhelmed with joy to head to K1 Speed for his 8th birthday party. Unfortunately, Ava and Simon had to head to Gold Crown Field House that day for some three-on-three basketball games. Ava was terribly upset to have missed her brothers party and was even more sad to miss racing go-karts.
The gang getting their go-kart safety lesson.
Ready to race.
Dylan had a blast at his party racing cars and...
...so did all his friends.
Happy 8th birthday party Dylan!
Later that evening we attempted to head out for dinner to a hibachi grill after Dylan's party and after Ava's basketball games. We made a reservation but, didn't realize it was Homecoming night so the reservation didn't do us much good. So we made a plan to go back the next night, ate somewhere else and came home for presents.
Looking so handsome (Dylan) and pretty (Ava) on Dylan's 8th birthday.
The house on the other hand was looking like a mini-Christmas celebrations. So many presents.
Sunday, morning the 25th I woke up early and headed to Boulder to race the Back Roads half marathon.
It was a tough race as well as a tough course. There were some good hills, all dirt roads and lots of big gravel but...
...I pushed through, ran smart and won first overall female. I was very happy with all the hard work I had been putting in training for the Toronto Marathon.
That evening we were back at the Hibachi Grill again for our second attempt to celebrate Dylan's birthday with the family.
Dylan (and all of us) loved all the interactive cooking and...
...and fire flames.
They even sang happy birthday and dimmed the lights with a disco ball.
Such a fun night out celebrating Dylan growing up.
Happy Birthday Dylan!
Last but, not least CBC started back up in September for Ava, and she has done very well managing her time with having had two practices a week for basketball and two practices with the Coyotes XC as well as having had lots of middle school homework. However, guitar had to drop off temporarily for the time being.
We were excited to be able to cheer on Ava in basketball again. We missed it this past summer but, were were still happy with Ava's decision to take a break from playing bball year round.
School pictures arrived and Ava and I had fun looking back at both the kids pictures over the years. So cute and growing up way too fast.
