100% All Boy

Last Friday, September 24, 2010, Dylan Matthew turned 2 years old. We can easily say our D-man is 100% all boy... literally. At Dylan's 24 month Wellness visit he measured in the 100th percentile for height at 3 feet 2 inches tall and 89% for weight.

Just for fun, Simon entered Dylan's 2 year old height into a height predictor which predicted Dylan to be 6' 6" as an adult. OMG! Who knows what truth the website holds, but we sure laughed not knowing what to think. All we can say for now is that we're happy to report that both our kids are tall and healthy.

Dylan is 100% all boy. He loves cars, trucks, airplanes, trains, balls, bikes, dinosaurs, bears, and dogs. He plays rough like a boy and loves to jump around, tackle, wrestle, play with his riding tractors and cars in the driveway, run around, play ready-set-go, play basketball, baseball and football, and go to the park to slide, swing and climb. If Dylan is outside, he's happy! Dylan hands down still loves to play in water the most so anytime he can splash in a river, lake, puddle, bath tub, pool, or hose he's a happy camper.

Reading a story before bed time has become a must for Dylan (which has always been the same for Ava as well, so no surprise that Dylan would want the same) and he often gets pretty upset if we don't read at least 3 books before bed. Dylan's vocabulary and pronunciation have both really improved over the last 2 months and we love hearing all the cute, funny and dramatic phrases Dylan has to say.

Speaking of dramatic, our D-man can switch on a dime from being an overly happy, funny and cheerful toddler to suddenly being a big grouchy drama queen. Although, Dylan can be grouchy he also gives the best hugs and can be very affectionate and snuggly when he wants to be. The person Dylan is by far the most affectionate towards is his Grampy who he just adores. It's sooo cute to watch because when Grampy is around, Dylan doesn't care about anyone else except his Grampy. Although, this drives my mom, Simon and I crazy, we also love seeing the bond between the two of them.Dylan is definitely not a morning person so we never know what to expect when we walk into his room in the morning. We have learned that if we send Ava into his room first, Dylan generally handles the morning better. We're not sure why, but if it works than we're happy to let Ava climb right into bed with Dylan. Dylan adores his older sister, Ava, except when she tries to pick him up. They generally play really well together which we love. Like I've mentioned, Dylan is a typical boy, but he also has a lot of fun dressing up in all of Ava's play clothes, jewelry and shoes (oh, how this boy loves to wear other peoples shoes, especially high heels).

We could all tell that Dylan had a really fun time at his birthday party and here are some fun moments from his fun day. Dylan screams with joy for balloons, balls and bubbles so we made sure to have plenty of all three for him to play with at his birthday party.
"Oh, it's my birthday. Yay!"

If you look close, Dylan's finger is actually touching the candle flame on his basketball ice cream cake! It must not have hurt because he never said "owie."
