Our Memorial Day weekend out at the Ranch was a great way to kick-off the kids summer break and then May was quickly over and we headed into June with Dylan already having his first camp of the summer at at Arapahoe High School for basketball from the May 31st - June 3rd. It was a fun camp for the boys to get to hang with the older high school basketball boys and it was also nice because the camp was so close to home too (walking distance)!
At the end of practice on the last day of camp the boys all had a water balloon fight and then they had a little ceremony to announce the winners of the competitions throughout the camp. Dylan was so happy because he won three competitions (for his age group) for 1) the most number of layups made, 2) most number of shots made, and 3) his team won the final championship game. So awesome Dylan

While Dylan was inside Arapahoe for a basketball camp that week, Ava was outside for a few days for a softball camp at Arapahoe too. Ava was so excited to try out softball for the first time and she loved it. So fun that Ava's always up for trying new things, activities, and sports. She loved softball and it was so fun that her friend Taylor was at the camp too.
On the 1st of June we were also excited that our new Coyotes tent had arrived for us to set up at Thursday's practice.
Ater a great week of camps and Coyotes practices, it was time for one of our favorite neighborhood races... the Splash Dash 5K. Simon timed the race with the kids and I (and several of our Coyotes runners) ran in the race. I felt great and placed 1st overall for females, while Ava came in as the 4th female and Dylan placed 2nd in his age group. What a fun morning!
After the race Simon, the kids and I went out for breakfast at the Original Pancake House and then quickly came home for showers so that we could all head back out the door to watch Dylan's flag football game. It was another amazing game to watch Dylan pull lots of flags and score 2 touchdowns. Awesome job buddy.
Ava looking cute while staying out of the hot sun during Dylan's game.
Finally... time for the kids to just relax for some neighborhood play time with their buddies.
Monday the 5th Dylan was practicing his layups when I heard him come inside while I was working. I asked him what he was doing and he said Marley wanted to watch him play but was thirsty so he was bringing her water out for her. So cute.
Cute, Marley actually drank her water while still laying down.
Later that evening we took Dylan to his first guitar lessons and he did better then I expected too. Nice job bud!
Unfortunately, getting in 3-5 practices didn't go so well that 1st week because on Wednesday morning the 7th I received a call from Ava (while Simon was attending to Dylan) after my 7:30-9am meeting, that Dylan had cut his finger when trying to open Marley's canned dog food (Marley had been sick with pancreatitis so she had to be on a modified diet). When I got home his finger had still been bleeding so Simon and I felt I needed to took him to urgent care. They ended up only glueing his cut shut but, really they should have just stitched it up because the glue didn't even last for 24 hours (hello... he's an active 8 year old boy who plays football, basketball and digs in the dirt). Needless to say it was very hard for Dylan to then hold a guitar pick so his first week of guitar was sort-of pointless.
The week was quickly over after a lot of fun at Coyotes practices and a little drama with Dylan's finger. By Saturday the kids and I finally had some time to plant the flower pots that had been empty for way too long. The kids (and neighbor kids too) were all very helpful and we got the job done and flowers planted. Yippie. They looked great.
After a hot morning of planting flowers on the 10th it was time for the kids to cool off at the neighbor's house for a water balloon fight.
The next morning, Sunday the 11th, Simon, the kids and I, woke up very, very early so that we could drive down to Manitou Springs (near Colorado Springs) to meet friends at the base of the Incline trail at 7am. We wanted to get an early start because the Incline gets very crowded and very hot. It was such a fun and challenging hike up the Incline and then we walked down the trail on the back side for a total of 6 miles round trip. After a great hike we all headed out for a delicious breakfast in downtown Colorado Springs. Such a fun and challenging day.
Starting Monday the 12th, both Dylan and Ava had lacrosse games every Monday over the summer.
Ava's very first exposure to lacrosse was having to play in a game on Monday the 12th without every having any practice. She was very nervous, but did great and caught onto the rules quickly.
Go Ava!
Up next was Dylan's game.
Time to cool off with some popsicles after their hot lacrosse games.
The next morning Ava and Dylan woke up for their second day of tennis camp from the was from the 12th-15th. They were able to walk to and from camp because it was right down the street at Arapahoe High School.
Unfortunately, Ava and Dylan had to miss the last day of camp. After camp on Thursday the 14th we headed up to Aspen for a few days. I had to time the Food and Wine Festival 5k for Simon so I brought the kids along with me for a little get-away. Sharona was also able to join us for a couple days in Aspen too, so that was very fun for us!
Right outside our hotel back door, was a momma deer and her two baby doe.
This store scared me given the fact that some of these geodes were $78,00 and Dylan absolutely loves rocks and geodes. He did a great job of not touching them even though he was so excited.
We found a heart rock for Aunt Cindy. It was way too expensive to buys so we had to settle for taking a picture to send her.
We took a great hike along the Rio Grande Trail.
If you look close you can see the tips of the ears of the two baby does just above the tall grass.
Tennis match with Sharona but, she didn't want to take a photo.
After three beautiful days an Aspen and after I timed the 5k, my mom then took the kids back to Grampy and Sharona's house to stay the night while I then went on to Grand Junction to time another race for Simon. Saturday the 17th, after working the race in GJ, I then headed back to Edwards to pick up the kids from my parent's house but, first we celebrated an early Father's Day with Grampy.
The next morning Dylan was glad to be back home to play with his toys and build another huge marble track.
Later that Sunday, the 18th, Dylan had a flag football game.
Then it was time to celebrate Father's day with dad after Dylan's football game.
More Monday night lacrosse on the 19th!
My workout buddy on the 21st.
Friday June 23rd -25th the kids and I headed back up to the Mountains to Grampy and Sharona's house. Shortly after we arrived the kids noticed a baby bird fell out of it's next and landed in a thick bush so Grampy, Ava and Dylan put on gloves and were able to rescue the bird and safely put it back in it's nest.
Later that evening, Sharona, the kids and I headed to a little art and jazz festival in Edwards. It was such a pleasant evening.
More mountain deer!
Saturday the 24th while I timed the Eagle Half Marathon the kids went on hike with Grampy and Sharona!
Thanks mom and dad for spending so much time with the kids this summer while I helped Simon times a few races! They love their mountain time with their Grampy and Sharona!!
Dylan and his newest lego projects! So creative and such a good builder.
Monday night game on the 26th. She's starting to get the hang of this new sport, lacrosse.
Dylan is have a great summer of lacrosse in a more low-key league and therefore he's doing great and having fun with lots of goals, great defense and many ground balls.
Wednesday the 28th Simon and I took our work to the pool so the kids could play!
Using their summer free time on the 29th to play with some of their Christmas gifts they hadn't had the chance to use yet. Ava and Dylan spent four hours working together to build this awesome Whacky Trax marble track.

Ending the month by meeting Jamal Murray at Lifetime with dad.
